Several assets which are the property of the state, which were under the management of the Strejești research station, were unlawfully sold by the court appointed liquidator, during the liquidation proceedings.
The liquidator claims that he didn"t know the assets sold were the property of the state, as the assets were recorded in the books as being the property of the research station.
According to the Constitution, assets which are the property of the state can not be sold, only leased.
This case involves the Fruit Farming and Research Station of Strejeşti, in the county of Olt. The assets in question were appraised at over 700,000 lei.
The station went bankrupt two years ago, and the issue of the assets which are the property of the state and which were sold illegally, has not been solved to this day.
The assets in question are 11 buildings, which according to official documents, were encumbered during the bankruptcy proceedings and after the disbanding of the station, they were left unmanaged and with an uncertain legal status.
Following this affair, several of the properties were illegally occupied. Out of the assets which have been sold, the ground floors of the buildings were the most sought after. Some of them invested in their modernization, which now makes it difficult for the state to restore its right of ownership.
