Paul Flanagan, 41, head of the National Sales Company of Ford România, which will take over imports and distribution of the brand on the Romanian market as of August 1, talks in his first interview since starting his term about the progression of the Romanian market in the second half of the year and about the impact of the VAT raise and of the "Rabla" car scrappage scheme on sales.
Flanagan and Ford's National Sales Company take over Ford's imports from Ion Ţiriac, one of the leading Romanian entrepreneurs. Ţiriac's sales people leave Ford at no. 1 of the importers' ranking five months into the year, with a 9% market share and almost 600 cars ahead of its main rival Volkswagen.
"Our target will be to remain no. 1 on the market until the end of the year, but it will be difficult considering the changes, and it is not our first priority. We pursue our own and our dealers' profitability, and we want to attract as many clients as possible," Paul Flanagan said.
