In early July 104 companies interested in developing wind power projects already had contracts to join the grid, either with the national power grid company Transelectrica or with operators of electricity distribution networks. Their cumulated plans target 2,771 MW projects, i. e. nearly four Cernavoda nuclear reactors, with over 80% of the projects located in Dobrogea.
According to Transelectrica data, four projects are to be connected to the high-voltage grid of the power transmission company, having a cumulated installed capacity of 747 MW. 600 MW will be developed by Czech-held CEZ, which is building a 1.1 billion-euro farm in two Dobrogea communes. A further 58 projects are also located in the Dobrogea area, but will be connected to the transmission network operated by Italian-held Enel. The capacity of the projects is set to be 1,536.76 MW.
In Banat there are three companies planning to build 89 MW projects, while in the area covered by Electrica Muntenia Nord there are 31 companies with around 380 MW projects.
