Smartphones still account for a small share, 15%, of the value of mobile phone sales in Romania, but things will change fast over the next few years, says YoungLak Jung, president of Samsung Electronics Romania.
Smartphones, which offer users the possibility to use on a mobile phone applications previously available only on a computer, will double or even triple their share of overall mobile phone sales in Romania over a short period of time, as was the case on Western European markets, with smartphones set to become the leading market segment, YoungLak Jung, president of Samsung Electronics Romania, told ZF in an interview.
"In Romania we expect smartphones to account for a 7% share of the overall number of phones sold and for 15% of the market in terms of value this year. But Romania will pursue the growth pattern of the Western European markets, with the smartphone segment to see a significant and fast market share increase over the next two years," says the president of Samsung Electronics Romania.
