Firms' wealth is distributed differently: whereas Bucharest holds more than ten firms with turnover worth above 500m euros each last year, Iasi, Vrancea, Vaslui, Botosani and Teleorman counties do not have any firm with receipts of more than 80m euros in 2009, in line with data ZF got from the Trade Registry on Romania's 300 largest firms. In the counties holding industrial resources, the biggest firms are state-owned, mining, and oil ones. Other counties are sustained by the foreign investments of multinationals such as Nokia, Renault, Continental or Holcim, while in Harghita the most important player in the economy is businessman Octavian Cretu, and Nelu Iordache owns through Romstrade the biggest firm of Giurgiu. As expected, the biggest businesses of Romania are registered in Bucharest and Ilfov county, where retail, telephony or oil industry multinationals have set their headquarters. The presence of some large companies in each county is extremely important for local budgets, wherefrom investments to develop infrastructure and attract further investors can be started.
