German group Meffert, which in 2005 sold Dufa Romania to American investment fund Advent International, decided to come back with Dufa paint brand onto the Romanian market and is set to make the first deliveries in August.
Meffert returns to the Romanian market after five years and is considering building a plant from scratch or acquiring a local player on medium term. The Germans' strategy is to partner with local businesspeople when they enter a new market so they did not agree to give the Dufa brand to Advent International in 2005.
The investment fund had the right to use the Dufa brand until July 2010, so it started back in 2006 to promote the Deutek name, under which former Dufa Romania currently operates.
"The project to come back to the Romanian market is already under way. We have selected partners and are making the first deliveries in August. The Dufa brand is already known on the Romanian market (...)," Liviu Stan, managing partner of Dufa Tec, the new company under which the Meffert group will operate, which will hold the licence for Dufa and Profi Tec brands, told ZF.
