Inditex Spanish retailer, owning Zara brand, is set to open, by yearend, its first store in Piteşti, in a building over 110 years old located downtown, according to market information.
Based on ZF calculations, the opening of the store, set to have an over 1,000 square metre area, will require more than two million euros, taking into account the Spanish company invests 2,000 euros on average per square metre to fit out stores.
The chosen building, which belonged to Forstiropol family, was 60 years ago transferred to state administration and since 1994 it has been owned by Cardinal Triumf company, a firm privatised through the MEBO method.
For many years, Argeş restaurant operated in the building, but lately the building has been operating as a general store.
This is the second street front retail space where the Spanish company opens a Zara store domestically, after that of Unirea Shopping Center, opened in the first half of 2009. Also, this is the first store to be opened in a historical building, pursuing the company's international strategy.
