Adamescu family, owner of Rex five star hotel of Mamaia, will open an 800 square metre spa centre in September, set to operate under the franchise of World Class wellness services provider, the same company managing the clubs of JW Marriott and Radisson five star hotels of Bucharest.
The project is funded through a 500,000-euro loan contracted from BCR.
"The spa centre of Rex hotel will be finalised in September and will include saunas, pools, jacuzzi, massage and beauty rooms," stated Mihai Bişinicu, operations manager with World Class Romania, handling the project.
This is the first major investment the Adamescus make in Rex, after having bought the famous hotel from Viorel Păunescu in 2006, in a 10m-euro deal.
In 2009, Rex hotel doubled income to around 230,000 euros, according to Trade Registry data.
The Romanian seaside has few hotels making spa and fitness services available, with the best-known including Ana Aslan Health Spa or Eforie, controlled by businessman George Copos, and that of Cocor hotel of Neptun.
