Businessman Sebastian Ghiţă, who controls Asesoft group operating in IT&C industry, is the co-owner, alongside three other investors, of Corni Eolian, which is developing a 700 MW project in Galaţi county. Ghiţă's investment in Galaţi is among the top 20 biggest wind projects in Romania, for which a contract to join the electrical grid has already been signed, according to data from national power grid company Transelectrica, with the 20 including big energy groups such as CEZ (The Czech Republic), Enel (Italy), RWE (Germany), Energias de Portugal, and Verbund (Austria). The signing of the contract to join the grid is a major step towards making an investment in a wind power project.
"We have several wind farms, in addition to the 70 MW one in Galaţi. We are also working on a 30 MW farm, two 70-MW farms, and on another two 100 MW ones in Constanţa, Tulcea, and Galaţi. We started to work in the sector five or six years ago and were the first to install a wind turbine in Romania, the one in Topolog, which is still working. We will finance our projects through loans because nobody sells grandma's jewellery to get the necessary money," says Ghiţă. In order to build a 70 MW wind farm one needs around 100 million euros if the equipment used is new.
