Companies are reluctant to embark upon large projects and prefer to focus on the acquisition of equipment and services that should optimise those already started, Marius Tulea, general manager of Crescendo, a provider of IT services, solutions and applications, with 18.4m-euro turnover last year, told ZF.
"As the crisis has deepened, clients have no longer invested in major projects, but preferred to handle the current ones and maintain them. The tendency maintains," says Tulea, 43, at the helm of Crescendo for 11 years.
The company last year saw its turnover go down by 6% in euros, from 19.6m euros in 2008 to 18.4m euros last year, but rise in RON from 72 to 78 million. Tulea explained the increase was due to the existence of several contracts with a large services weight. Also, the company's income rose to 1.8m euros from 1.3m euros in 2008.
As for the contracts with the state, Tulea maintains they account for less than 5% in the company's turnover. "Contracts with the state did not go beyond 15% in our growth years, either. Had we counted on the relationship with the state, we would have fared worse", he said.
