Domestic security solution producer BitDefender plans to expand its market share this year by boosting the number of clients, but not in terms of value, says Răzvan Vâlceanu, the company's country manager for Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
He explained this will happen as the company will sell a licence that will protect three computers instead of one at present.
"BitDefender is currently a market leader in Romania, with a 40% share, with licences being equally sold on the consumer and business segments," says Vâlceanu, who has run BitDefender's Bucharest office for three years.
He expects the domestic IT security market to stay flat at last year's value of 7m euros.
The company launched the new edition of security products, BitDefender 2011, available in three versions-Antivirus Pro, Internet Security and Total Security, with prices of 30, 45 and 65 euros.
According to Răzvan Vâlceanu, 5% of the company's total sales come from Romania, with the rest being generated by foreign markets.
