Ingvar Sviggum, Ford vice-president in charge of sales and marketing, intends to keep its around 10% market share in Romania, relying on the fact that Ford will be perceived as a local brand, the executive says.
"The fact that you are a local manufacturer is important for the image. As for the market share growth in Romania, it will not be achieved with one, but several products," said Sviggum, who attended the official launch of the Paris Auto Show.
As for the future B-Max, the B-segment model to be assembled in Craiova starting in the autumn of next year, it "will be very important for Ford's business, both in Europe and globally," with its production set to reach around 140-150,000 units in 2013 - the year when Ford will complete the 675 million-euro investment in Craiova.
As for the potential of the Romanian market, Sviggum believes Romania will return to the volumes recorded in 2006-2008, which will automatically take Ford's business to over 500 million euros.
