One third of Romanian-based employees of Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei are Chinese, with the personnel rise coming amid strong expansion of the company's business on the Romanian market.
The company has reached a turnover of nearly 40 million euros in just six years' time, after increasingly more telecom operators, from Vodafone through to RCS&RDS boosted acquisitions of equipment, and, more recently, of mobile phones. Market leaders Ericsson and Alcatel Lucent post over 120 million euros in turnover in Romania, but Huawei, a company few had heard about in Europe ten years ago, now boasts a turnover higher than that of giant Nokia Siemens Networks.
The company has 340 employees, 30% of whom are Chinese. 170 work in the local centre, with the rest being employed in a financial support centre based in Romania, but which provides services to all of Europe. The company intends to hire another 7 employees for the terminal segment by mid-2011.
