Automobile Dacia has cut production of the Sandero model by nearly 60% in October, to around 7,400 cars, according to statistics of the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA). This is the third month in a row where production of the B-segment model launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008 falls by more than 40%, the biggest decline recorded by a Dacia model, compared with Logan, whose production has fallen gradually over the last few years, as new models were launched. On the Romanian market Sandero is the Dacia model with the lowest sales, being left behind ten months into the year even by the Duster SUV launched in May. With the car scrappage schemes carried in France and Germany last year, production of Sandero hit a record high of 18,200 units per month, out of a total of 36,400 vehicles. On the German market the model was advertised as the "5,000-euro car", considering the 2,500-euro scrappage bonus, selling over 30,000 units last year, out of a total of 85,000, with the rest being accounted for by Logan saloon and Logan MCV.
