The price of 3D TV sets must go down below 1,000 dollars for sales to skyrocket globally and entail purchases of video cameras and other accessories allowing for the creation and viewing of three-dimensional content, believe the representatives of Taiwan's Aiptek company, which already produces a series of 3D video cameras.
"It took 60 years to shift from the black and white TV set to colour ones with HD images. The rate of 3D product adoption will soar only after the price of TV sets drops below 1,000 dollars," states Frank Sheu, general manager of Aiptek. The company has already launched a HD video camera on the market and is set to launch a new generation of the product in January, at a price of 199 euros.
At present, 3D TV sets sell in Romania at prices starting from around 1,300 euros.
Aiptek, a company founded in 1997 and floated in 2003, is looking for distributors and partners providing logistics, servicing and support services in CEE. "We believe our products are suitable for the countries in this region as none of them has prices of above $400".
