On the underground level of Petrom City, the biggest real estate project finalised this year in which the company invested 130 million euros in order to accommodate 2,500 employees from Bucharest and Ploieşti, a record-breaking canteen has been opened.
Strictly in terms of number of people it can seat, Petrom's canteen is bigger than Caru' cu Bere, perhaps the best-known restaurant in Romania, and in terms of revenues, it could generate around 2 million euros per year, starting from an average menu price of around 15 RON.
The problem is the facility is only open for company employees and for Petrom City visitors, but the latter are set to pay more for the menu.
"We have been on the Romanian market for 17 years and I can say the equipment of the Petrom canteen has been a first from several points of view. The Petrom canteen is the biggest project on the on-premise segment (hotels, restaurants, coffee shops i.e.) this year," says Daniel Mocanu, general manager of DAAS Romania, one of the leading suppliers of equipment for hotels, restaurants, catering companies, as well as for food stores. Apart from Petrom, the company's clients include Radisson SAS and Marriott, Novotel, Ibis, Continental, Hard Rock Cafe, Pizza Hut chain and KFC.
