Automobile Dacia sales will exceed the 2.6 billion-euro mark in Europe this year, according to ZF estimates, up nearly 40% against the similar period of last year. The higher rise in the value of sales than in the number of cars registered comes at a time when the average price of a Dacia has risen to around 10,000 euros from a prior 8,000 euros, with the current best-selling model being the Duster SUV, whose price can exceed 18,000 euros. Dacia officials did not wish to comment on the figures, citing data confidentiality.
In the first 11 months of this year, Dacia registrations in Europe went up by over 11% against the similar period of last year, according to statistics of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), to 242,700 cars, equivalent to over 2.4 billion euros, according to ZF calculations.
Production of the Mioveni plant will also be higher this year than originally estimated, driven by demand for the Duster SUV, which the French wait as much as seven months for.
"Automobile Dacia's output will rise by more than 10% this year, with more than 330,000 vehicles assembled in Mioveni," said Constantin Stroe, vice-president of Automobile Dacia.
