Jean Valvis, one of the best-known businesspeople domestically, says, 18 years after first arriving in Romania, and after selling two of the businesses he had built from scratch, Dorna (sold to Coca-Cola) and LaDorna (acquired by Lactalis), that he does not plan to sell the wine business or the new water one.
"My having succeeded twice to sell to the world leader of the category two projects started from scratch, my having achieved this twice does not mean I am a selling machine, a reseller," explains Jean Valvis (56), who now owns Valvis Holding Group.
The group includes Aqua Carpatica water business, Domeniile Sâmbureşti wine business, Dorna Agri bio cereal business and AgroElectrica, specialising in renewable energy. The group has 400 employees.
The Swiss businessman born in Greece reckons that each time he sold he did it to be able to invest in his new project, but this does not mean he creates businesses to sell them. "If I sold the operation, I did it to invest in my future. I do not sell to buy yachts, jets and villas in the Caribbean".
