Anima, the medical services division of the biggest group in the Romanian drug industry, A&D Pharma, increased its capital by over 2 million RON (0.5 million euros) in December to 8.8 million RON (2.1 million euros).
Only Sensiblu, the drugstore chain which is part of the A&D Pharma group, subscribed to the capital increases, and now controls 48.45% of the shares compared with 15.67% in November, according to Official Gazette data.
"Anima is a dynamic company in full process of development, which means it requires capital. One of the means of financing the project is by boosting the share capital through shareholder contributions," said Cristian Sas, chief operating officer of Anima. He explained that Sensiblu was the only entity to subscribe to the capital increase "for cash management reasons."
Apart from Sensiblu, the company's shareholders include A&D Pharma Holdings NV (44.98%), as well as doctors and managers.
A&D Pharma last year started expansion on the private clinics segment, currently operating four Anima clinics and a central lab. In the first quarter of this year, Anima plans to open three clinics for which it will employ 50 full-time staff and over 100 part-time staff.
