Apparel manufacturer J&R Enterprises controlled by businessman Joseph Seroussi last year reached 21.5 million euros in exports, 10% more than in 2009, a year when the company was the biggest exporter in the textile industry, according to a ranking put together by the National Association of Romanian exporters and Importers (ANEIR).
"In 2010, the volume of exports rose by about 10% compared with 2009 and the orders for the spring-summer 2011 point to an about 9% increase compared with the same time of last year," says Elena Mateescu, general manager of J&R Enterprises.
Despite the financial crisis, the company managed to gain new clients such as Lab4Style (Germany), Berwin Ruhagyar Zrt. (Hungary), Acne Studios (Sweden), and Confecciones Senior (Spain), but also retained its traditional partners in Germany, Sweden and France. "We started working with some of our partners right after we opened the factories, 15 or 18 years ago," Elena Mateescu explains.
