The constructions and the agriculture sectors are two of the essential factors in the revival of the Romanian economy in 2011, believes Emil Pop, general manager of Rehau Polymer, local subsidiary of German group Rehau, with 48.5 million-euro turnover last year in Romania.
"The economy will not be revived as long as the constructions sector and agriculture do not progress, while the local industry will continue to be dependent on the European one. Recovery could be brought about by the diligence and responsibility shown by everyone, in their particular area of work, from politics to export-oriented industry. Romanians as a people should change their attitude," Emil Pop told ZF.
However, the Rehau manager is pessimistic about the progression of the local constructions market in 2011, estimating a stagnation or even a 5-10% decline. Pop joins other managers in the constructions sector, who said in the last part of 2010 that there were slim chances that the sector most affected by the crisis would be revived in 2011, after 2010 saw an overall decline of 20-25%, from around 12.6 billion euros in the preceding year.
Rehau posted a 48.5 million-euro turnover in 2010, up 11% on the previous year.
