Nokia, the company that produces more than half the mobile phones sold in a year in Romania, started to promote its terminals last year through social networks Facebook and Twitter and has organised several competitions to stimulate software development for its own platform.
Nokia's local office, which the Finish company opened in 1999, last year for the first time allocated a budget for communication and promotion of the company's phones through Facebook and Twitter networks. "We entered social media in the first quarter of 2010. The Facebook page was launched in February and at the end of April we were already on Twitter. The main reasons we entered social media were the desire to talk to our users and bring as many of them as possible into the Nokia community," Razvan Petrescu, Country Manager of Nokia Romania, told ZF. The company's interaction with users is handled on Facebook by PR agency DC Communication, and on Twitter by online agency Wunderman.
Nokia has reached 23,500 fans on Facebook, and the company's messages on Twitter are followed by over 1,200 users. Petrescu did not provide details on the budget allocated for social networks.
