Alexandru Drăgoiu, the businessman who owns E-Boda electronics brand together with Honorius Prigoană, is considering launching a PC tablet this year.
"I have had a tablet sample and e-reader sample for almost a year now," says Alexandru Drăgoiu, 31, the head and founder of Rosal Import Export, the company behind E-Boda half of which he owns, with the rest being held by Honorius Prigoană.
He is likely to launch the PC tablet toward the yearend, entering competition with the Alldro tablet of Visual Fan of Braşov and with EvoTab, announced last week by Televoice, on a market estimated to be worth at least 10m euros.
Overall, between 15,000 and 20,000 tablets will be sold in Romania this year, in line with several market estimates. At an average price of 600 euros, in the context where an iPad gets close to as much as 1,000 euros accessories included, and a Romanian tablet ranges between 150 and 200 euros, the segment is likely to go as high as 12m euros in 2011.
The E-Boda tablet could have reached the market earlier, but the businessman says he preferred waiting for a confirmation of market interest in this type of products under a Romanian brand.
