Some law firms seem to have already come out of the crisis and started to report significant revenue increases, with Popovici Niţu & Asociaţii, the firm coordinated by Florian Niţu and Ernest Popovici recording 9.1 million euros in revenues last year, up 28%.
"We ended 2010 with an around 30% increase in operations, which has already been reflected in our turnover. It exceeded 9 million euros in revenues collected for legal services, Florian Niţu, managing partner of Popovici Niţu & Asociaţii, told ZF.
Niţu cites five factors as drivers of the revenue increase, i.e. mergers & acquisitions operations, a balanced portfolio of clients (entrepreneurs, institutional investors and strategic investors), involvement in renewable energy projects worth a cumulated 3.5 billion euros, expanding the volume of legal and fiscal consulting and expanding the litigations and arbitration practice.
"We have consolidated our position as leader of the mergers and acquisitions market and of the real estate segment (according to the DealWatch analysis i.e.), managing to raise the number of mergers and acquisitions in which we were involved, with 21 finalised transactions, as well raising our work volume exponentially," says Niţu, who has lately been involved in restructuring the real estate portfolio of Austrian group Immofinanz, which has nearly 900 million euros in assets on the Romanian market, being the most powerful investor on the market.
