The unexpected resignation of the general manager of the National Company of Motorways and National Roads in Romania (CNADNR), Liviu Costache, has once again brought to light the lack of continuity and the problems facing the institution that has 1.5 to 2 billion euros a year at its disposal to build motorways and national roads, which, however, fail to emerge on Romania's road infrastructure map.
Costache was appointed to the helm of CNADNR in September last year, shortly after Anca Boagiu took over as transportation and infrastructure minister. He replaced Dorina Tiron, who was dismissed by Boagiu after a check that revealed the CNADNR management had been faulty.
Costache had been manager in charge of coordinating motorway projects within CNADNR, a position he will keep, according to representatives of the institution.
The interim manager will be Daniela Drăghia, who is currently deputy general manager for projects with external funding within the institution.
Liviu Costache could not be contacted by the time this issue was ready for print to comment on his decision to stay on in CNADNR, but in a lower position.
