Fourteen years after she was hired as a network expert at Orange, Mădălina Suceveanu was promoted to the highest technical position in the no.1 telecom company in Romania, and is the first woman in the France Telecom group to become Chief Technical Officer.
Her joining Orange Romania's board two years ago, when she took over as head of network development and implementation, a position from which she interacted more often with the top management of France Telecom and acquired a new vision of the business, are the factors that played a key role in promoting her to the position of chief technical officer of the company, Mădălina Suceveanu told ZF in an interview.
"When you are part of the Executive Board of Orange Romania you have a different visibility of the business needs and the changes you need to make in order to give support to the market," says the Orange official.
Hired as a network expert for what was a start-up with an unknown future - mobile phone company MobilRom (with the Dialog brand), in the 90s, Mădălina Suceveanu steadily climbed the corporate ladder, which has become a giant with 10 million customers and a 10 billion-euro business - one of the biggest companies in Romania in the meantime.
Her promotion to a top management position was a move prepared in the last two years and a half, which could have seen her end up in a similar position in any other country where France Telecom is present, Mădălina Suceveanu says.
