The norms regarding the checking up of people with high incomes have been approved by the Government approximately three months after the passing of the decision in line with which individuals whose real income exceeds by at least 50,000 lei declared sums will pay a 16% tax levied on the difference between the two values.
Initially, the checking up will focus on several "tens, hundreds" of people who either spend large sums to buy luxury goods without having declared sums accordingly, or do not have constant income or lack accountable documents, according to the report of the National Fiscal Administration Agency (ANAF) for 2010.
Tax authorities last year set up a department poised to check people with high incomes.
ANAF chairman Sorin Blejnar has recently stated on the "After 20 Years" show on ProTV that 12 people hold accounts in Switzerland totally worth 50-60m euros, and the tax authorities will check the source of these incomes.
