American IT giant Hewlett Packard says it will reach 3,600 employees in Romania at the end of the year and if demand on foreign markets rises, the company could open a second services centre somewhere other than in Bucharest.
The local subsidiary of American company HP, which claims for itself the title of leader of the IT market with its over 3,000 employees, posted an over 10% rise in revenues last year, as well as in the first quarter of the fiscal year, and estimates the trend will continue, Radu Enache, general manager of the IT giant, told ZF in an interview.
"We grew in Romania more than the company grew internationally. The important thing is we grew on all hardware categories, and saw a significant rise on the segments of servers, networking, PCs and printers. We have kept our position as leader of the services segment, so last year was basically an extremely difficult, but very good year," Enache said.
In the 2010 fiscal year, ended in September, HP announced it had posted 126 billion dollars in global revenues, up 10%. In the first quarter of the current fiscal year, ended on January 31st, HP posted 32.3 billion dollars in revenues, a 4% increase.
