The output of Mioveni-based Automobile Dacia car plant rose by 2.5% in the first two months of this year, according to the statistical data provided by the Association of Car Producers and Importers (APIA), to a volume of 53,000 units.
The company's turnover for the first two months amounts to over 600m euros according to ZF calculations, up by more than 50% from the same period of last year.
The rising revenues come as more than half of the plant's production is represented by the Duster SUV this year, which has an average price of 15,000 euros, double the price of the other models of Dacia range.
Should Dacia maintain the current level of production, the plant will manufacture almost 350,000 cars by yearend, of which half will be Duster SUVs. Thus, the company's turnover is likely to climb to over 4bn euros, double the 2009 level, according to ZF calculations.
The number of Dacia cars manufactured in Mioveni rose by almost 4% in the first two months, while Logan Van and Logan Pick-up utility vehicles registered a production drop by almost 15% to almost 2,500 units, while their exports declined by 24%.
