Most Romanians do not agree with the military intervention in Libya according to a survey conducted by the Romanian Evaluation and Strategy Institute, IRES. 68% of those questioned do not agree with a military intervention in Libya, 28% approve it and 4% did not respond.
90% of the respondents heard about the military intervention in Libya and most of them, 51% believe that it was determined by the control over Libyan oil reserves. 42% believe that the reason of the intervention is to protect civilians against Qaddafi. 40% of those questioned appreciate that Romania might be affected by the events in Libya.
According to the study, 66% of those questioned believe that Romania should not take a stand on the matter, 20% believe that Romania should support the intervention and 11% believe that Romania should oppose it.
