Dumagas Transport, one of the biggest road transporters domestically, in the first three months of this year acquired 100 new trucks, totally worth over 7m euros, according to ZF calculations.
The move comes as the commercial utility vehicle market is growing twice as fast as the car market, with transport companies thus expecting demand for freight transportation to go up.
"Since the start of the year, we've acquired 100 new trucks, both to expand our fleet and replace older trucks. Thus, Dumagas fleet has reached around 600 trucks," said Mihai Dugăeşescu, the company's main shareholder and general manager.
He did not specify how the 100 trucks were acquired or their brand. Against the first half of last year, when the company's fleet included 450 utility vehicles, it has expanded by almost 30% in less than 12 months.
Last year, Dumagas Transport saw turnover rise by over 30% to almost 40m euros, according to the company's manager, from 28m euros in 2009.
