The salaries of employees in IT companies in western Romania will go up by an average 10% this year after last year specialists in the field saw their wages up by more than inflation (10.10%), shows the latest salary survey conducted by human resources group AIMS Human Capital. The study was conducted on a sample of 30 companies (many of which foreign-held) in Timişoara, Cluj, Sibiu and Braşov, which together have over 6,200 employees.
"Most companies gave 3 to 20% raises in 2010. An average of raises last year for all categories of employees (management and specialists), however, amounts to 10.10%. An interesting fact, however, is that more than a third of respondent companies give bigger raises last year than those initially budgeted," believes Şerban Mrejeriu, Human Resources Consultant with AIMS Human Capital Romania, a group that posted over 5.5 million euros in turnover in 2009, a top 10 player on the Romanian recruitment market.
The salary increase was driven by the unexpected spike in inflation (over 6% last year), as well as by competition on the labour market, which "dictated" higher raises in order to find high performance employees.
