Generali, a top ten insurer, has budgeted rising revenues from life, home insurance and travel insurance policies, in parallel with a declining exposure on the car segment for this year.
"We'll take further steps to curb car insurance weight and develop other insurance lines. In 2001 we'll continue to develop life insurance, but we'll support other high-potential business lines as well: house insurance, travel assistance and corporate insurance," stated Marie Kovarova, CEO of Generali Asigurări.
The company this year targets underwritten premiums worth 441.5m lei (105m euros), with 93.5m lei from life insurance, meaning just a slight increase against the 440m lei turnover reached in 2010. The insurance market may register a two-digit decline in 2011, according to market estimates, after an over 5% decrease last year.
Generali turnover fell by 13% last year, to 440m lei (105m euros) mainly as a result of the decline in business on the car insurance segment. General insurance income dropped by 17%, while premiums from life insurance policies rose by 8% to 91m lei (21.6m euros).
