Romtelecom, the biggest provider of fixed telephony services domestically, has closed 12 stores in several cities of the country since the start of this year, with the decision prompted by the losses of the respective stores, Ovidiu Ghiman, chief strategy and commercial residential officer of the company, told ZF.
"We closed 12 stores in the first part of this year, with two of them being taken over for management by employees," said Ghiman, adding the decision was strictly prompted by financial results. "We are regularly carrying out profitability and efficiency analyses for Romtelecom stores. Adjustment steps are usually taken and if profitability still falls we can decide to close some stores".
After this network adjustment, Romtelecom has 64 own stores left, from 75 in March 2010, but the operator's services are also sold through partners and through the network of the biggest telecom retailer in Romania, Germanos, a company owned by Cosmote mobile telephony operator.
