The Constitutional Court of Romania announced that it had postponed until September 12th the decision on the validation or invalidation of the referendum on July, 29th for dismissing president Traian Basescu.
The Court decided to postpone any verdict until September, 12th and during this period Crin Antonescu keeps his office as interim president of Romania. Also the County Electoral Bureaus must check the lists with the names of citizens that have the right to vote.
Ion Predescu, CCR judge, stated that the legitimacy of all citizens with the right to vote by June, 29th must be verified.
CCR judge Aspazia Cojocaru stated that all data must be collected from the competent authorities.
„In my opinion, the referendum should have been cancelled because it was based on false data“, judge Cojocaru asserted.
