* Interview with Ivan Bozev, regional manager for South East Europe at "Lenovo"
"Lenovo" intends to introduce its entire range of tablets in the markets in South East Europe (SEE) this summer, according to Ivan Bozev, the manager responsible for the region. The launch of smartphones will take place in the same period, and the first countries to witness it will be Serbia and Montenegro.
"Lenovo's" objective for the smartphone and tablet business is to penetrate the SEE market. The company does not intend to reach a certain market share or position in the hierarchy of market players. In the PC segment, "Lenovo" wishes to continue to outpace market growth and to gain market share from their competitors, Ivan Bozev states.
"Lenovo" registered a profit of 635 million dollar in the fiscal year which ended on the 31st of March 2013, based on annual record sales of 34 billion dollars, up 15% from the previous fiscal year. Compared with the net result of 2011/2012, this fiscal year's profit grew by 34%. Profit before tax increased by 38%, reaching 801 million dollars.
Reporter: How does Central and Eastern Europe compare to other parts of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region?
Ivan Bozev: EMEA is probably the most diverse region in terms of types of clients. It ranges from some of the most developed markets, which are the West European ones, to some which are the most involved in the catching up process, like the ones in Africa.
So obviously what is very different is the level of development. But if we talk specifically about the Romanian market and the South East European markets I think the buying pattern is very similar to the one in Wester Europe. There is a tremendous opportunity when it comes to new buyers that have never owned a device. The term we would use for this markets is "first purchase markets".
