Cineastul român Corneliu Porumboiu se regăseşte pe lista celor 20 de tineri regizori care merită să fie urmăriţi în viitor, scrie The New York Times. Lista a fost alcătuită de doi critici de film de la The New York Times, care au dorit să analizeze situaţia tinerilor regizori în curs de afirmare pe plan internaţional. Corneliu Porumboiu, în vârstă de 37 de ani, este unul dintre cei mai importanţi regizori din noua cinematografie românească, alături de nume precum Cristi Puiu, Cristian Mungiu şi Radu Muntean. În 2006, a primit premiul pentru debut Camera d’Or la Festivalul de Film de la Cannes, pentru “A fost sau n-a fost?”, o comedie despre cum a fost trăită revoluţia din 1989 într-un oraş de provincie.
