Global visibility of the elite European basketball will be stronger as the unique sponsorship partnership between Basketball Euroleague and the airline Turkish Airlines continues for seven more seasons until 2020. Under the new agreement, one of the biggest sponsorship deals in the history of basketball, the most important basketball competition in Europe will be known as the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. The partnership began in 2010 and in their first three years together Turkish Airlines and Basketball Euroleague went beyond sponsorship agreement to build a collaboration whose innovations varies from awarded media promotions to production of documentary films and live broadcasts of the matches during the flights. "Turkish Airlines is always one step ahead and proves to be the fully involved partner we need, helping to improve this sport outside the field", said in Istanbul Jordi Bertomeu, president of Basketball Euroleague.
"Strengthening cooperation with Basketball Euroleague, the top European basketball event and one of the most popular basketball organizations in the world, is a strategic step in increasing the prestige and the name of Turkish Airlines brand globally", said Hamdi Topcu, chairman of Turkish Airlines.
Established in 1933, Turkish Airlines is a four star airline, with a fleet of 232 aircrafts (passenger and cargo), flying to 237 cities around the world, comprising 41 domestic destinations and 196 international destinations. Basketball Euroleague now manages two top competitions on the mainland: Turkish Airlines Euroleague and Euro Cup, consisting of over 50 teams from more than 25 countries.
