PNL High Ranking Official Offends President Basescu
Ludovic Orban, president of Bucharest’s branch of the National Liberal Party or PNL offended Romanian President Traian Basescu.
After a press conference, Orban said that Basescu draws attention because he suffers from amblyopia and has the face of a killer.
The "verbal assault" continued as Orban said “ Basescu has a negative charisma. He does not like to work, all he does is for popularity”.
The Presidency refused to comment on Orban’s statements.
Orban said he does not withdraw his statements, he only argued that the respective recording was made without his own accord.
Godfather Timis Baptizes Tender's Son
Ovidiu Tender, freshly released from prison, baptized his son and the ceremonial Godfather was another controversial businessman Frank Vasile Timis, the brains behind Rosia Montana gold mining operation.
Among tender’s guests at the baptism ceremony were present President Basescu’s sport issues counselor Octavian Belu, actor Ion Dichiseanu, boxing star Mihai Leu and journalist Ovidiu Zara.
Zara became notorious because of his statements against President Traian Basescu. Zara claimed to have heard Basescu calling him “gaozar”, a word that in Romanian means “faggot”.
The ceremony cemented the relations between Tender and Timis who are now family, besides being business partners.
Tender was arrested and indicted on charges of various economic crimes. He was released from prison on because of health problems and because the temporary arrest warrant on his name expired.
