The chief of Dobrugea ISU states that facilities and technology available to the inspectorate is a weakness in the situation of a disaster.
Colonel Viorel Costache took on the management of Dobrugea Inspectorate for Emergency Situations at the end of the past year, once he won the search competition to fill this position. We have tried to find out from ISU chief inspector how prepared is the institution he manages when confronted with a similar situation.
Which are the state institutions which intervene in the situation of an earthquake? Which one is the command centre?
When an earthquake takes place, all decentralised state institutions, with subsidiaries at the county level, take immediate action, according to their special tasks. According to effectual law and provisions, activity coordinating becomes the task of County Committee for Emergency Situations, presided by the prefect.
Where is the command for such situations located?
In this respect, the prefect has already initiated some activities related to an imminent earthquake. We are identifying the places which might be unaffected by a strong earthquake. For this, we will make a classification on accessibility to these places, in order for the County Committee for Emergency Situations to meet. This is so, as we do not know how an earthquake situation might develop and we have to take into consideration a lot of factors.
When was the most recent analysis carried out in this segment and which were the results?
I don't know when the most recent analysis was carried out, nevertheless I am in the position to tell you that on 6th of May the County Committee for Emergency Situations is scheduled to reassemble, and all the responsible entities in the county under the command of the prefect are called together, in order to also talk this aspect over. @
