The leading operators in the private medical services sector will invest over 150 million euros in medical facilities on the Romanian market by 2011, with over 70 million euros to be invested this year alone, reveals an analysis carried out by ZF based on data released by companies. This is a record-high level for the market and has been influenced by the recent entry of investment funds into the shareholder structure of the leading operators, as well as by the significant growth opportunities.
"Up until now, you could do things with thousands, hundreds of thousands or with a million euros at the most," says Robert Serban, who, together with wife Georgeta, controls Gral Medical chain.
Overall 13 clinics have been announced this year, but the seven hospital projects extend until 2011.
MedLife has announced over 20 million euros in investments, Centrul Medical Unirea - 30 million euros (over two years), Gral - 3.5 million euros, Sanador - 40 million euros (the investment in the hospital building amounts to 33 million euros, while the overall project costs 40 million euros), Euroclinic - 1 million euros, Romar - 8-9 million euros (original investment), Medicana - 30 million dollars (22.3 million euros) and Medicover - 40 million euros.
