"Financing comes when you have a strategic plan and dialogue partners. Many of the entrepreneurs who go to the bank to take out a loan don't know how to pitch their company before the bank. Most don't have strategies, and don't know how to ask for money. I don't want to point a finger at entrepreneurs, but the "it's ok as it is" mentality does not work for the bank," specified Peter Barta, executive manager of the Post-Privatisation Foundation, at the conference "Mediafax talks about SMEs" organised by Mediafax news agency.
Aurel Saramet, chairman of the National Guarantee Fund for SME Loans (FNGCIMM) says in Romania there are only isolated cases of SMEs adjusting their production capacity to changing demand.
"Companies are not able to adjust over a longer period of time, they live from one day to the next. This state of uncertainty as to where the business world is heading also makes banks falter when deciding what to allocate funds for," Aurel Saramet specified.
