Retailers, employers in the IT and the auto sector have announced they will make at least 8,000 new hirings this year. Whether they open new subsidiaries or develop a new business segment, companies such as Cora, Auchan, H&M, HP, Fujikura Automotive and ING continue investments, having already announced several thousand new jobs across Romania.
Hewlett Packard (HP), the local subsidiary of the world's biggest IT company, remains the IT employer with the most ambitious recruitment plan in 2011. HP is looking to hire 600 this year, after in 2011 it recruited a similar number of employees for the GeBOC services centre in Bucharest. Swedish giant Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), one of the world's biggest retailers, will hire 300 by the end of the year, who will add to the existing 100-employee team.
One of the most active employers this year is the life insurance division of Dutch group ING, which opened a regional services centre in Cluj in September last year, and is set to hire 400 this year, as well.
