Only one in three MBA graduates in Romania has opened a business shortly after completing the programme, while most of them chose either to stay with their previous employer, or work in a different company, but on a middle or top management position. The reason? "Entrepreneurship is an option after graduating an MBA programme, but not necessarily. There are graduates who prefer to subsequently work in the top management of large companies, let us not forget that international companies such as Vodafone or Raiffeisen Bank are among the biggest employers of MBA graduates in Romania," maintains Bob De Man, a managing partner with De Man Business Development restructuring consultancy, who graduated the MBA programme of INSEAD, one of the world's best business schools. Romanians continue to apply for MBA programmes this year, too, but the number of candidates is lower, as multinationals have scaled back employee development budgets.
