Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Romania said it would lay off 110 employees this year, of which 56 merchandisers and financial data operators will have the possibility of continuing activity within specialized companies.
“Coca-Cola HBC Romania is operating in a highly challenging and complex environment, both locally and in European Union. Despite the company’s efforts to act in response of the current environment changes, they are heavily influenced by the economic realities characteristic to its operating structure and of generated expenses. Thus, the company finds itself in the position to attune to the current local market conditions and to take all the required measures to counter any negative effect that could have a negative impact on the operations it runs in Romania”, said the representatives of Coca-Cola HBC Romania.
According to own statements, the company will hand out severance pay packages to all employees affected by this decision, equivalent to 7-10 salaries, in line with the provisions of the collective labor agreement in force. The company will also provide job placement assistance and career counseling.
In September 2008, Coca-Cola HBC Romania announced the shutdown of Oradea-based bottling plant in order to improve efficiency of the local activities, focusing at the same time on consolidating the production capacity at Iasi, Timisoara, Ploiesti and Dorna units.
The 102 discharged workers were to receive a severance pay equivalent to 7 up to 10 salaries. Furthermore, they benefited of “the company’s support, as well as the services of recruitment agencies who will help them find a job fit to their professional training”, company representatives said at that time.
