With car sales down 25% on last year, when the market plunged by nearly 60%, premium car dealers seek to attract already existing customers to official service centres, writes Business Magazin weekly.
"In 2010 Mercedes-Benz opened four new authorised service centres with five other petitions in the course of being approved for commercial vehicles," said Philipp Hagenburger, head of the after sales in Mercedes-Benz Romania. There was a decline in service centre-derived revenues, according to the Mercedes-Benz manager, but it was around 5% lower compared with car registrations, which were down nearly 26%, according to the Driving Licence and Vehicle Registration Service.
In order to secure customer loyalty, Mercedes-Benz launched economic packages for cars no longer under warranty, as well as programmes to extend the warranty for new cars sold.
Toyota Romania, importer of the Japanese brand on the Romanian market, extended the warranty period from three to five years or 160,000 km. In addition, even customers who bought a Toyota model before the implementation of this programme can pay a difference to extend the warranty.
