The former international Gheorghe Popescu has a personal file of collaborator of Secret Services! The document, in which he is given the conspiratorial name "Petrescu", is in the archive of CNSAS, registration number R225431, and it has 32 pages!
In these pages there are informative notes with allusions of the source to his colleagues, coaches or people from the staff of Craiova at the end of 80's – details from the team’s life and personal valuations. But there are no details which may accuse "Petrescu" of political policy.
He began when he was 19
According to the dates on the cover, the file was opened by the Secret Services Dolj on January 1st, ‘86. Popescu was 19 and, according to the specifications in the file, he was in 12th grade of the Industrial High School no. 5. He played then at the youth team of Universitatea Craiova, but he played also in a few matches for the big team of Universitatea Craiova, in the first League.
