Enrico Perini, the majority shareholder of Romstal Group, a company with an over 250 million-euro annual turnover, which holds the Autoklass dealership network, has dropped sales of Ford cars. As of August 1st, imports of the American brand were officially taken over by Ford Romania from Romcar, which is part of Ţiriac Holdings. This meant all 36 Ford dealers that were part of the Romcar network had to sign a new contract with Ford Romania in order to continue their business.
"Because many of the clauses of the new contract were unacceptable in a business partnership as far as we were concerned, we tried to negotiate them. The negotiations resulted in a slightly different contract from the one we were originally proposed, so Autoklass found it inconvenient to sign the new contract," said Dragoş Furtună, marketing manager of Autoklass. According to him, the decision to drop both Ford's sales and service stands as long as the contract clauses remain unmodified.
Autoklass posted a 50 million-euro turnover last year from the sale of Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge in Bucharest, Ploieşti, Constanţa and Sibiu. Apart from Autoklass, another six dealers have yet to sign the new sales contract with Ford Romania.
