Gheorghe Grec, one of the founders and former shareholders of Bere Mureş, currently owning Germisara four-star hotel of Geoagiu-Băi resort of Hunedoara county, maintains the accommodation facility's turnover rose by 20% last year.
"Germisara hotel ended last year with 6m RON turnover, up 20% year-on-year, owning to the development strategy we had. We also generated income of almost 100,000 RON," stated Gheorghe Grec, who invested 5m euros in the unit. He cashed in 35m euros from Heineken for the stake he held in Bere Mureş.
The unit has an accommodation capacity of 137 double rooms and seven apartments and also has conference rooms, restaurants, two pools and several treatment bases.
Asked by ZF whether by taking over the four-star hotel he now considers he made a good investment, Grec stated in Romania one cannot tell a good investment from a bad one.
"The problem of roads and the absence of an airport close to the resort we have the hotel in hinder tourists from reaching the hotel. Maybe now that Egypt and Tunisia out of the picture as holiday destinations, tourists will pay more attention to us," Grec said.
