Almost 80% of constructions on Timpuri Noi industrial platform of Bucharest have been taken down only four months after the signing of a deal by which a firm controlled by IKEA Swedish group pledged to acquire the 5.1 hectare plot of land under the plant with a view to developing a real estate project made up of housing units and office spaces.
"The demolition process will last for another one or two months. The debris is taken to Jilava," says Adrian Breazu, manager and shareholder of Timpuri Noi SA company, which decided to sell the land for almost 35m euros to Interprime Properties firm controlled by IKEA group through Inter IKEA Centre Group subsidiary, in charge with developing real estate projects.
It is in the same Jilava, on {oseaua Giurgiului, that the plant's operations have been relocated, with an office of Timpuri Noi being registered in the locality situated south of Bucharest in September.
